The climbing rose with bright violet color. Sometimes the flower looks deep red. Early flowering around the late June. Blooms in clusters with the impressive yellow center. Few prickles. 2m x 80cm. Though strong in winter, you must tie and cover them. Good for obelisk. It's a good symbol rose in my red rose area.  The deepest purple color of the three purple roses in my garden. It fades to dark purple. Blooms in the beginning of July. The semi-double flower has irregular petals. In autumn it bears a lot of rose hips. Few prickles. 3m x 80cm. Must be tied under the snow in order it may not wither during the winter. Good rose for the west arch in my garden.  The latest blooming rose in my garden. Blooms in the middle of July. It has a double flower with round petals in cluster. Tolerant of shade. The flowers are bright purple even under the tree. Few prickles. 3m x 80cm. In winter you must tie and pull them dowm under the snow. Round flowers are so cute.

I like the ratio of the white and red color of this rose best among other stripe color roses. Very strong old rose franrance. It grows well, so I train it on the obelisk. 2m ~ 70cm. As it is not strong against the frosts, you should pull it down and tie under the snow in winter.  @One of the most impressive and beautiful roses among the old roses. It has the old rose fragrance mixed with the tea. I use this as the sherbet rose for my original rose sherbet. The leaves are light green. Few prickles. 1.8m ~ 60cm. You should protect it in winter, since it withers.  As a Moss rose, it is very wonderful since the purple flower is impressive and the rose is vigorous. As it is a Moss, bristles are dense and hard. However, it is permissible, considering the elegance. 2m ~ 60cm. Not so tolerant of the coldness, so you should pull it down under the snow in winter.

The flower is smaller than other English roses. The lilac pink flowers bloom brilliantly in clusters. 80cm x 80cm. Though the prickles are many and hard, it may be ignored because both the flower and the frangrance are so charming. Continuous flowering. In winter you should protect it, since it withers a little and the shoot is very slender. I visited the Garden Harlow Carr in North Yorkshiare to find plants suitable in cold areas.  I found this in the garden center and brought it back last year, so I haven't got the information about its winter tolerance yet. It has clear soft pink flowers with the naturally overlapped petals. 80cm‚˜50cm. Fragrant. Repeat flowering. I visited the Hatfield House of Lady Salisbury in 2012. There were a lot of my favorite roses in the Rose garden, so after I left the garden, I returned again to check some roses.  I also found this rose together with Lady Salisbury in order to plant them in the new area under the center arch, so I don't know its winter tolerance, either.
Good selection! The velvet red color has dignity and solemnity. Both the flower and the bud are elegant. 50cm x 50cm. Fragrant. Repeat flowering.

I will introduce my roses of the 2022 season like a list in a catalog. In winter we have snow of 1.5m in height and the temperature can drop to -18 degrees centigrade here in Kitahiroshima-city (my town), Hokkaido. I'd be grad if the list below would be a help of those who grow roses in the cool areas. Basically I tie roses with bamboo poles and ropes before winter. As for the climbing roses, I try to pull them down sideways in order the snow may cover all of them to prevent the cold wind. However, as for some of the larger climbers, though I cannot do anything, they can survive the winter! How vigorous!
In the list you can find the small roses and the new roses, some of which I have never introduced because they have not grown well so far.
@Of course, there are familiar roses which I introduced you often since I love them so much. I hope you will find your favorites in my list.

@Fragile, ephemeral is my image of this rose. It has not grown well in my garden for a long time. However, I potted it up two years ago and it bloomed beautifully since then.@80cm x 40cm. Fragrant. You should protect it in winter, since it withers so much because of the frosts. @When I planted, I didn't know almost anything about this rose. Then I fell in love with it, blooming elegantly with Orlaya and Lamb's ear. Eustacia Vye is a heroine of "Return of the Native"@by Thomas Hardy, whose novels are my favorites! I visited his cottage when I was a student. Like Eustacia who is strong-willed but ill-fated, the rose blooms beautifully and impressively. 50cm x 50cm. It withers a little. @This is always one of my most favorite roses. The flower is globular with the pink color in the center. Hermione is the queen of "Winter's Tale" by Shakespeare. How impressive the last scene of the queen is!
Very strong rose against the frosts and diseases. Early blooming. Flowers bloom repeatedly with myrrh fragrance. 100cm ~ 80cm.

Small single pink flowers bloom continuously in clusters. Even in autumn it blooms well, bearing small round orange tinted hips. 1.2m x 70cm. Good both in the garden and in the pot. Prickles are not so many, but sometimes hard. The color of the leaves are light green.  In my garden I grow it as a small rose. 80cm x 40cm. Though it's not tolerant of winter frosts, I cannot abandon it, since the flower is very cute. The small magenta pink flowers and the blue green leaves are so chic. It goes well with the Japanese garden. Repeat flowering.  It is a small bush rose in my garden because of the winter frosts, though it grows tall in Honshu area, Japan.1.2m x 50cm. The pink flower with white center blooming in clusters reminds me of the design of Japanese Kimono. The color of the leaves is light green. Good for both the English and the Japanese garden.

Grows well and very tolerant of coldness as the name suggests!? Very fragrant double flowers bloom in clusters. The soft pink color fades into white in full bloom. Very cute! 5m x 1m. I've never protected it from snow. Perfect rose except strong prickles. Once flowering.  The tip of the bud is tinted with red. When it blooms, the flower changes from soft pink into pure white. Very charming rose with no prickles. It looks like the myriads of stars as the name means. The color of the leaves is bright green. 3m x 1m. You don't have to protect it in winter. It looks like a tree fall when matured. Once flowering.  The color of the bud is orange. When it blooms the flower changes from apricot into white in clusters like a bouquet. Repeat flowering. Few prickles. Fragrant. Very strong rose, tolerant of shade. 2m x 80cm. As some of shoots wither because of the frosts, you should protect it in winter.

Very surprising rose! I have never seen the flower blooming well for a long time in the garden. Last year I potted it up and put it next to the clematis 'Milky Way.' How cute and elegant it blooms! Late blooming. The lilac pink flower blooms repeatedly. 70cm x 50cm. You should protect it with cover in winter, since it withers because of the frosts.  This rose will add the brilliance to your garden. Not only the flower itself but the name is so brilliant! Large cherry pink flower has the elegance of the queen with astrantia 'Venice.' 70cm ~ 50cm. Winter protection is needed because it withers. Repeat flowering. Fragrant.
Not so many flowers, however, very impressive.
It's odd, but good news for me. This rose likes the shade area in Hokkaido more than the sunny area in Honshu. It hates the warm place. The petals wither in the beating sun. Here on the east wall it blooms beautifully like paintings. 2m ~ 1m. Repeat flowering. I grow it as a climbing rose. Soft pink flowers are so fragrant and cute. Very strong rose against the disease and frosts. However I pull down and tie it under the snow in winter.
